Konami announced Super Bomberman R Online will launch for Sony PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam as a free-to-play title on May 27, 2021. The Xbox One version will follow later.
Konami will also introduce new in-game installments for all platforms, including the existing version of Stadia. Each season will last 3 months and bring new items, cosmetics, and a new Bomber hero. Season One is notable for the addition of the Old Snake Bomber from the Metal Gear Solid series, which can be earned using "Bomber Coins" in the game. Seasonal content can only be purchased during each season.
A "Battle Pass" system has also been announced, including a Silver Pass and a Gold Pass. Here are the details, via Konami:
Silver Pass - Silver Pass will be free for all players; The more they play in Battle 64 mode, the more they can increase their rank and earn cosmetic rewards including taunts, accessories. There will be 100 tiers in the Silver Pass, offering plenty of free content each season.
Gold Pass – The optional Gold Pass offers greater rewards over 100 ranks, including many cosmetics and other items that do not directly affect the game. The Gold Pass will be available for 800 Bomber Coins, the currency that can be purchased in bundles through the in-game store or on the console store. Bomber Coins are also offered as Gold Pass rewards. The ranks and content for both the Silver and Gold Bomber Passes are seasonal, so players will need to climb the ranks again after the new season begins to earn more rewards.
Finally, Konami announced that to celebrate Super Bomberman R reaching 2 million units sold, it will be handing out a "Double Platinum Cake" commemorative skin to all players in Super Bomberman R Online.

As Bomberman returns to the gameplay that made the franchise a classic - blasting through markets, finding hidden powers and using them to blow up enemies - action in Super Bomberman R Online took it to the next level with “Battle 64”. Delivers an original battle royale experience, up to 64 players spread across 16 starting battlefields. As levels are cleared and players are decimated, the number of battlefields continues to decrease until the final final battle to be the last bomber standing.
Super Bomberman R Online offers over 100 customizable feature combinations, including multiple skins, accessories, and, for the first time, bomb skins — affecting both the bomb and the explosion.
