Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC 'The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero' were announced

The Pokemon Company and developer Game Freak have announced the downloadable expansion of Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet “The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero.” This DLC will consist of two parts— “Part 1: The Teal Mask” releasing in Fall 2023, followed by “Part 2: The Indigo Disk” releasing in Winter 2023.

Details are as follows:

Players can use existing save data from Pokemon Scarlet or Pokemon Violet to continue their adventure in "The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero". In this new downloadable content, players will leave the Paldea region, the setting of Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet. In “Part 1: The Teal Mask,” a school trip takes players to the land of Kitakami, where they will participate in an outdoor learning program jointly held between their academy and another school. In “Part 2: The Indigo Disk,” players will travel to Blueberry Academy, a sister school with their own academy, as exchange students. While this story is divided into two parts, they link together to form a connected story.​

In "Part 1: The Teal Mask", players will be selected to participate in a school trip organized annually in partnership with another school. They will be taken to the land of Kitakami, where a large mountain stands above the land and the people live at the foot of the mountain. It is a place of tranquil natural surroundings, featuring rice fields and apple orchards. The trip seems to coincide with a festival that is regularly held in the village in Kitakami during this season, so the village is always bustling with various vendors and stalls. Players will meet new friends and Pokemon as they unravel the mysteries behind the folk tales passed down in this land.​

In "Part 1: The Teal Mask" and "Part 2: The Indigo Disk", players will be able to encounter more than 230 familiar Pokemon found living in other regions but never seen in Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet. This includes Pokemon that players will be able to bring to their game through Pokemon HOME or Pokemon received in Trade. Players will also encounter new Legendary Pokemon—Ogerpon in “Part 1: The Teal Mask” and Terapagos in “Part 2: The Indigo Disk.” In Part 1: The Teal Mask, 3 Pokemon named Okidogi, Munkidori and Fezandipiti also appear. They are beloved by the villagers as heroes who have defended the land of Kitakami in the past, and stone statues are made in their image to express the people's gratitude.

Players who purchased “The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero” before Tuesday, October 31, 2023, will be given a serial code to receive a special gift: a Hisuian Zoroark with 3 special skills. This Hisuian Zoroark knows the Happy Hour skill, which it cannot learn through normal gameplay, along with Tera Blast, Bitter Malice, and Nasty Plot. It has a Charismatic Mark and has Dark as its Tera Type. The serial code will be valid until Thursday, February 29, 2024.
